Good grammar

The Romanian National Audio-Visual Council (NAC) published the results of a language monitoring carried out by Academy linguists in November. They monitored the most important TV and Radio Channels for linguistic correctness. Results were published on the NAC website. Reading anthologies of errors is fun. Apart from that, what is stunning is how much one actually gets used to messy and incorrect speech. One just does not notice it any more. How many of us stop to think that saying "huge masses of people" is redundant/pleonastic?
Focused on the news or the debate, one overlooks the bad quality of the speech, the clumsily-written crawls. Yet, once in a while it hits us: someone with a well-tuned voice, clear, articulated, accurate. It is like the blessed moment when the vacuum cleaner noise stops.
